  1. Just a quick note... ...if you use the VSelect program, make sure after you save, you close it (with the X, not minimize), then re-open it to reload the roster. The reload button does not function as intended and will cause the program to hang (freeze). Also, to right click on your screen, tap with two or more fingers at the same time (I know, its annoying and doesn't always work).
  2. A fairly simple STEP BY STEP approach on how to play WinMugen, Mugen 1.0, and Mugen 1.1 on Android (and possibly iOS, but I dunno about that, since iOS is lame and sucks). Also for whatever reason, you will NOT be able to play Ikemen and IkemenGO games. Why? No idea. So, let's begin... STEP 1: Download WinLator from the official Github. Remember to find out if your system is running x64, x86, or some other processor. STEP 2: Unpack any full game or fresh pre-built screenpack (unless you want to attempt to build it on your phone, and believe me, it is tedious to do), or the original game. Make sure your phone has enough space to carry all this stuff, and try not to over-do it with characters. You probably won't be able to run a game that has to pre-load 100+ characters. I haven't tried myself, but I don't wanna risk it. STEP 3: Start up WinLator (it will probably ask you to install something called GECKO WINE at some point, when it does that, install it), and click on the + SIGN. From here, you can modify the settings that will best fit your device, so if you have no idea what to do, here are the settings for a LOW-END device (something with less than 8gb of memory to work with). Screen Size: 800x600 | Graphics Driver: VirGL | DX Wrapper: WineD3D | Audio Driver: PulseAudio | GPU Name: NVIDIA GForce 9600 GT NOTE: Do not mess with any settings that I did not mention. Video Memory: 2048 MB | Enable CSMT | Enable Strict Shader Math | Win Components: Set all D3D sound drivers to NATIVE (windows), this will make the audio less laggy | Set Media Decoder to NATIVE (windows) Go to the ADVANCED tab, change Box64 preset to COMPATIBILITY | Startup Selection: Essential | Windows Version: 7 (you don't need newer versions) | Processor Affinity: Turn all of them on except for CPU0, turn that one OFF | Processor Affinity 32-bit: Turn only the last 4 on, the others will be OFF STEP 4: Setup your touchscreen controller through the INPUT CONTROLLER tab in the pop-up menu. I'm sure you can figure the rest out. Remember to EXPORT the controls so you don't have to set them up again if something fails. STEP 5: Now, assuming you figured that all out, go back to the CONTAINERS menu and click the PLAY (the triangle) button. From here, you will use your touchscreen to control the mouse and you can then use that to access your phone's directory from the simulated operating system (it'll probably be the D drive that is your phone), and then you can launch MUGEN by double tapping on the icon in its directory. STEP 6: Now you'll want to enable your touchscreen controls. You can do this by using your phone's swiping feature to bring up the on-screen function buttons (like the app switcher, clear recent apps, etc). Alternatively, if you want to use a bluetooth or plugged in device as a controller, you can do that from going to START → CONTROL PANEL → GAME CONTROLLERS. If ya done it correctly, then you can now play MUGEN on your phone, and depending on your phone, the characters, screenpack, and other stuff you use, it will run below average, above average, or better than average. Every now and then you'll experience slowdown (especially on a low-end device), but assuming you're not running the most intense content characters possible, then you should be able to play it fairly well. I was able to run a 4v4 all Dark Donalds match with minimal slowdown (except when they screen spammed and set off nukes). Overall, this isn't for everyone, but you can even run other programs, like Fighter Factory if you wanted to work on the go or do small edits or something. As I said, it isn't for everyone and will take a bit of getting used to, but if you're tech savvy, then you should have minimal issues.

Unfortunately, SAKURA's website is down and can only be accessed through the wayback machine. But considering Internet Archive is having a rough time, here's a re-upload of all their work so that you don't have to deal with the password stuff. If there is still a password on any of the files, the password would be "sakura".
  4. I don't know if the staff has considered this, but why not make this site only have CURATED (tested) content. Essentially this, rather than allowing anyone and everyone to upload, why not only upload content that is created by recognized members of the community? That way this reduces the amount of junk creations, allows people to have an easier time finding the functional and worthwhile characters, and also makes it so that unlike every other MUGEN site, this one ONLY showcases the content actually worth using. Like, I'm sure there are even members of the MUGEN community that would freely test characters for you, and then once we have enough characters from a trusted creator, that creator can then get a special search tag, so that they can specifically be found for people who actually want GOOD work. Like for example, some names worth giving their own special tag that is built into the site, are people like: —Duracelleur —KONG —OHMSBY —Ikaruga —Cafe —IF —Descolor —Mike Obrecht —ActJapan —OhGaki —CHOUJIN —RicePigeon —Alexlexus —Sean Altly Essentially, by cutting out the randoms and the slop that gets uploaded here and really everywhere, a more CURATED and REFINED collection of characters from TRUSTED and POLISHED creators known for their work, you can then build a side where people don't have to shift through every category and every page just to find a specific creator. Basically, think of it as a much faster way to index characters. Essentially, all the big names would have character packs, those packs would then have the name of the game the character is from, and then there would be no need for as many forum and search pages that end up with this trail of random slop. Like, being able to quickly focus and pinpoint certain games and creators, would optimize people's ability to get the characters they want, and not having to worry about downloading some half-baked creation that crashes at random But I wouldn't blame ya for being against this idea, after all, it would require the staff to actually test characters before uploading them themselves, that way we only have trusted sources.

  10. (from the Wiki) Metal Slug (メタルスラッグ) is a series of run and gun video games first released on Neo Geo arcade machines and game consoles originally created by Nazca and later by SNK. It has also been ported to various consoles, including the Playstation 2, Gameboy Advance, mobile devices, and more. Metal Slug takes most of its inspiration from (if not basically copied the entire game of) Gunforce: Battle Fire Engulfed Terror Island and Gunforce II (as those two games are the predecessors to the franchise) with a few creations for vehicles and such that seem to be based on other games, such as R-Type. And of course, from Metal Slug II, the final boss fight, one of the greatest things to ever exist. Overall, this series of games is insanely popular, as it has spawned countless variations, mobile games, PC games, fan-games, and so on. However, in the MUGEN community, more specifically, the Japanese and Chinese creators of these characters (and stages), a specific site ended up causing a bunch of these creators to completely stop creating Metal Slug characters or to begin GATEKEEPING and/or PRIVATE sharing these characters amongst a very small selection of people. So sadly, there will always be stuff missing from this collection, as I have no way of accessing any of these private storages, and I doubt myself, or anyone else that isn't already part of it, ever will. With that said though, I did my best to try and collect as much content from this community as I could over the years (as I am a huge fan of Metal Slug, in fact, I would say... Metal Slug is the best game series ever made), and I did my best to archive as many characters, stages, and other content that I was able to find. NSX2015's YouTube NightTerror599's YouTube 吳承曇/q2951415's YouTube Hound's YouTube The Kill's YouTube STG/STG Masara's YouTube MabsKMK's Website These are some of the top creators for Metal Slug characters and/or content, but unfortunately, most of them either no longer make MUGEN content at all or no longer make content that is available to the public. Also, if anyone happens to have characters that were at one point released by 吳承曇/q2951415 (but are no longer available to the public), I would greatly appreciate you sharing them with me (if I don't already have them in my collection). Additionally, if you happen to have "Shoe" and "Hozmi" by NSX2015, I would EXTREMELY appreciate that, as when I talked to NSX2015, they have informed me that they lost all of their characters when they deleted their 4shared and mediafire accounts some time ago. I guess they didn't bother to back anything up, so its a good thing that I managed to archive almost all of their stuff, but unfortunately, their "Shoe" (its a tank) and their "Hozmi" (its an enemy submarine boss thing) both seem to be missing entirely and don't even exist on that one site. DOWNLAOD LINK IS LOCATED HERE
  11. These characters are currently housed on MA, but sadly, even if I made a new account, I would not be able to download them due to file size limits. So, if any of you don't mind helping me ensure that all Metal Slug content is available for EVERYONE, then I'd greatly appreciate it. These are the following characters I'd like to have grabbed from MA (you know the site...) —Ralf (by KILLY) —Rita (by KILLY) —Rocky (by KILLY) —Bonny (by AkaPrestonXD) —Mira (by AkaPrestonXD) —Aswang (by Narou303) —Marco Rossi [SUMIN IMITATOR] (by Camren Springer) —Shisuka (by NightTerror599) —Nova (by NightTerror599) —Hyakutaro (by 吳承曇)

They only work in ANY version, so long as you have the SFF and SND file specifically for SF2, otherwise using them in other screenpacks and versions will cause them to be missing sounds and hitsparks. These are edits of SF2 characters from Fido and Rin&Bat done by DuckSS/Duck@ss/Synck to be KORYU or well... Koryu-ish. They're not 100% Koryu, but they're pretty close, as you can do Fireballs in mid-air and walk on the air and a whole bunch of other wacky stuff.
